At his rally Wednesday, Trump said Omar, along with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Newport Pleasure of New York, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, "hate our country" and, "If they don't like it, let them leave." All four women are U.S. citizens.
When Trump went after Omar – who was born in Somalia – the crowd began to chant, "send her back. Though Trump did not object to the chanting at the time, on Thursday he told reporters, "I wasn't happy with that message."
