when no one else was willing to — claiming him off waivers shortly after he was charged with domestic violence. But those charges were dropped in January
Troy Apke Jersey , and now he has avoided suspension from the league, but the team offered its firm words Friday.“We have been very clear with Reuben that his past does not have to determine his future — but the responsibility is squarely on him to change,” team president Bruce Allen said, via J.P. Finlay of NBCSportsWashington.com.For his part, Foster sounds willing to accept that, saying he was “grateful” for a second chance.“I appreciate the support I have received from the league, my team, and my union to help me succeed,” Foster said in a statement from the team. I want to thank Commissioner [Roger] Goodell for the time that he has spent with me and for his understanding of me as a person. I accept the NFL’s decision and want to say that I am truly sorry for my past actions and the people who may have been hurt by them. Going forward, I will follow the plan outlined for me and work hard to earn back the trust of my teammates, the NFL, NFL fans, and the community. I know that my success is all up to me, and I am committed to not letting you down.”If he can stay on the field, he offers Washington a chance at immediate impact, though many will still consider the team’s decision a a cynical one considering his checkered past. Michael Deiter, OGSchool: Wisconsin | Conference: BIG 10College Experience: RS Senior | Age: 23?Height / Weight: 6-5 / 328 lbsProjected Draft Status: 2nd or 3rd RoundNFL Comparison: Austin CorbettCollege StatisticsN/APlayer OverviewWhen 3-star guard recruit Michael Deiter committed to Wisconsin in 2014 I’m not sure he realized that he would play 3 of the 5 positions on the offensive line during his career. He was redshirted his freshman year in 2014 but in 2015 he got his first starting experience at left guard before having to switch to center after starter Dan Voltz was injured. Voltz retired before the 2016 season and Deiter continued to play center and left guard before switching positions to play left tackle during the 2017 season. Deiter’s move to tackle came in part out of need at the position after Ryan Ramczyk left and was also due to then RS Freshman Tyler Biadasz being ready to step into the starting role at center. He considered leaving early last year but received an undesirable draft grade and decided to go back to school. It was a great decision. Deiter returned to play his natural position, left guard, and he showed this year why he is one of the top prospects at the position. He was instrumental in helping Jonathan Taylor rush for nearly 2,000 yards this year. He was named to multiple All-American teams this year including mentions on the 1st and 2nd team and he named the Rimington-Pace Big Ten offensive lineman of the year, an award whose past recipients include Billy Price, Brandon Scherff
Zach Brown Jersey , and Taylor Lewan among many others.Deiter will be labeled as ‘versatile’ because of his experience at 3 offensive line positions but what he is really is consistent and dependable. He broke the Wisconsin record for consecutive starts by a football player with 53 starts. His bread and butter in the NFL will be at guard where he can show off his power and physicality and as a player that has versatility in a pinch and good leadership skills. I think he is ready to start in his rookie season and he should be a staple at the position for the team that drafts him during as well as after his rookie contract. StrengthsGood size and proportions for the position. I have seen weights for Deiter as low as 310 and as high as 328 as long as he is within this range he seems to have no problem maintaining his level of strength and athleticism.Related to the above potentially scheme versatile, he is no great athlete at the position but one of his strengths is as a pulling guard and blocking on the move. Depending on where he settles as far as his playing weight he could fit into zone or power schemes. Good fundamentals, base is decent and hands are powerful, on target, and active. On the run he can seal interior lanes by turning the defender as well as finish opponents to the ground. In pass protection he can neutralize the momentum of interior rushers with his balance and power as long as his footwork keeps up. Effort, passion, consistently, reliability, and leadership are on full display every time he’s on the field. He has great awareness and pride and works for his teammates on every play.WeaknessesIn pass protection he can pop upright and get rigid once engaged in a block compromising his footwork and balance.Related to the above he also is susceptible to smaller quicker interior rushers, think Solomon Thomas or Aaron Donald. These players will win their matchups against Deiter going inside because he plays a bit too high, is too slow to counter, and has to develop a counter move at the next level. His mental processing against these players will have to pick up as well. Athleticism is likely just average. He’s pulled off some impressive move/pulling blocks in college and he should continue that in the NFL but he might need help in certain schemes to ward off more athletic linebackers who could beat him to his spot.Let’s see his work:Deiter is #63 (LG)More Michael Deiter videosHow He Would Fit On The RedskinsThe Redskins have needed help at left guard for years. In my opinion, there has been a devaluing of the position from this coaching staff. No matter where you rank the value / order of the offensive line positions it doesn’t mean any one position should be neglected. That is what has happened on this Redskins team. We as fans know the type of player Shawn Lauvao is, we know who Tyler Catalina is, we know who Jonathan Cooper is, we know who Arie Kouandijo is, and we know whoever else played left guard for this team is in 2018. They are not starters, nor long term solutions. It’s time for an upgrade and a true investment in the position. Deiter has the tools to start right away and has the ability to really help the Redskins running game and be more than proficient in the passing game. He plays with the power, physicality, and effort this team needs on the ground. He has his flaws and he will be exposed but some of these elite interior rushers if he doesn’t pick up the change in game speed and develop a counter. However his skillset and work ethic are as good as any to roll the dice on when projecting his development.
