导出博客文章LONDON -- Manchester City fired manager Roberto Mancini on Monday, exactly one year after he delivered the clubs first English league title in 44 years. White Ultra Boost 2018 . The Italian coach, who had four years remaining on his contract, was ditched just as players from rival Manchester United were being cheered through the streets as they paraded the Premier League trophy that they re-captured from their neighbours. City said its end-of-season review was brought forward "out of respect for Roberto" after it was reported that Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini has been lined up to replace him. Mancinis final days in charge were marked by his attacks on City for failing to deny those reports. For his part, Pellegrini is only denying that a deal is in place, leaving open the possibility that he could be headed to the Premier League. Mancini has paid the price for Citys failure to build on its position of strength, with the club set to end the season without a trophy after losing the FA Cup final on Saturday and exiting the group stage of the Champions League for the second straight campaign. "Despite everyones best efforts, the club has failed to achieve any of its stated targets this year, with the exception of qualification for next seasons UEFA Champions League," City said in a statement. "This, combined with an identified need to develop a holistic approach to all aspects of football at the club, has meant that the decision has been taken to find a new manager for the 2013/14 season and beyond." United regained the Premier League trophy from City with four rounds to spare, and manager Alex Ferguson announced retirement plans last week after almost 27 years at Old Trafford. Ferguson leaves having seen off his 14th permanent manager of City, which only starting posing a real threat and winning trophies after Mancini replaced Mark Hughes in 2009. By Citys standards, before being bought by Abu Dhabis Sheikh Mansour in 2008, finishing second in the league this month would have been a commendable achievement. But a team that has benefited from about $1 billion of Abu Dhabi investment in five years appears to be going backward. The FA Cup final, which Mancini won in 2011 to end the clubs 35-year trophy drought, was lost this year to relegation-threatened Wigan on Saturday. City only beat United to the Premier League title last May on goal difference, but Mancini was initially rewarded with a new five-year contract. That was terminated on Monday. "Robertos record speaks for itself and he has the respect and gratitude of Sheikh Mansour, myself and the board for all of his hard work and commitment over the last three and a half years," chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said. "He has clearly also secured the love and respect of our fans. He has done as he promised and delivered silverware and success, breaking the clubs 35-year trophy drought and securing the title in 2012. "I would like to personally and publicly thank him for his dedication to the progress that he has overseen and for his support and continued friendship."Assistant Manager Brian Kidd will take charge of City for the last two games of the season, at Reading on Tuesday and at home against Norwich on Sunday, before leading a post-season tour to the United States. Even before Mancinis departure, it was destined to a busy off-season for player moves at City -- despite the restrictions imposed by UEFAs Financial Fair Play rules. Citys poor recruitment in the last off-season laid the seeds for the eventual demise of the former Inter Milan coach. The club failed to sign its top target, with Robin van Persie opting to join United from Arsenal, and was forced to settle for low-profile recruits in Jack Rodwell, Scott Sinclair and Matija Nastasic for about 35 million pounds (now $53 million) in total. The 48-year-old Mancini let the board know about his unhappiness about the clubs dealings, regularly complaining about it with reporters. Rodwell and Sinclair have hardly figured this season, and the promising Nastasic has been in and out of the team. Many of Mancinis big-name players -- Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and captain Vincent Kompany -- have either failed to shine or spent crucial periods out unavailable, affecting Citys ability to compete on multiple fronts. While his longtime indulgence of Mario Balotelli before the Italy striker joined AC Milan in January raised questions over his managerial approach. Losses this season to Southampton and Everton will count among some of the worst displays in Mancinis reign and were symptomatic or the teams regression. Citys move to appoint former Barcelona officials Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano as director of football and chief executive, respectively, also left Mancinis role under a cloud and hinted at the club heading in a new direction. Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola seemed to be the perfect fit to eventually replace Mancini, but he decided in January to join Bayern Munich on a three-year deal starting next season. Soriano and Begiristain know Pellegrini well from their time in Spain and will probably be the biggest supporters behind the Chileans likely appointment. Mancini has also fallen out with a number of players this year, including Kompany over his decision to play for Belgium soon after returning from a spell out injured, and Samir Nasri for his poor work rate and performances. "The team looks without passion, desire and (its) difficult to find an answer why everything went wrong," defender Pablo Zabaleta said after Saturdays 1-0 loss to Wigan in the FA Cup final. It will be up to the new manager to restore unity and desire to the club. Grey Ultra Boost 2018 . R.J. Umberger scored twice to lead the Blue Jackets to a franchise-record for consecutive wins with a 5-3 victory Tuesday night over the Los Angeles Kings. Ultra Boost 2018 Discount . Following a lopsided 5-2 loss against the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night, Paul MacLean told reporters that "theres a lack of focus, theres a lack of leadership and theres a lack of preparation" with his struggling team. That came on the heels of Bryan Murray taking the unusual step of going into the locker room at the Prudential Center and addressing the players himself. http://www.cheapultraboostsale.com/ . The 15th-ranked Canadian men lost the opening two games of their European tour: 19-15 to No. 17 Georgia and 21-20 to No. You saw the moment: Los Angeles had cut Minnesotas lead to two points with about 7? minutes left in Tuesdays much-anticipated matchup. This game, which might well have been a preview of the WNBA Finals, was living up to its billing. The Sparks, who had lost just once at Staples Center all season -- to Minnesota back in June -- were one stop away from a chance to tie it up or take the lead. One stop away. Sounds so close, doesnt it? Except if the person you have to stop is Lynx center Sylvia Fowles. In a battle of the top two teams in the league, the visiting Lynx prevailed 77-74. It didnt look like it would end up that close, until a last-second scoring surge by the Sparks. That was the kind of thing that might have Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve waking up in a cold sweat reliving it, kind of like that dream where you havent been to class all semester and then have to take a final. And you say to yourself, How the heck did this happen? But that little stumble before the finish line actually didnt hurt the Lynx (25-5). They won. They have secured one of the top two seeds in the playoffs. And they know theyll be in the best-of-five semifinals.Los Angeles (24-6) is pretty close to nailing down a bye to the semifinals too. But the Sparks know that if they are to make a title run, the Lynx are probably going to be in the way. And Fowles, who was last seasons WNBA Finals MVP after a 3-2 series win over the Indiana Fever, is helping make the Lynx seem just as hard to topple this season. So back to that moment on Tuesday. With the Lynx protecting a two-point lead, Fowles got the ball at the top of the lane on a pass from Seimone Augustus. At that juncture, Fowles had 17 points, and the Sparks tried to collapse on her. Everybody on the team -- and a few of the Sparks fans, it seemed -- got between the 6-foot-6 Fowles and the basket.OK, actually, it was only three Sparks defenders who attempted to stop her. You know, just three terrific players 6-2 or taller: Candace Parker, Jantel Lavender and Nneka Ogwumike. Fowles had to turn around, put the ball on the floor, step to the basket, not lose the ball and make a shot while closely guarded. She did just that. At which point, if youre one of the Sparks, you had to say, Theres just not much we can do about that. That is usually the case with Fowles when she gets the ball where she can do damage. You cant really prevent it, no matter how good your defense. Fowles finished with a gamee-high 21 points on 9 of 11 shooting and added nine rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots. Wholesale Ultra Boost 2018. As great as the Lynx are collectively -- which is very, very great -- Minnesotas individual star power also displayed its wattage on Tuesday. Maya Moore -- who definitely should not be overlooked in the regular-season MVP race -- was outstanding with 20 points and seven rebounds. She followed Fowles big basket by pulling down a rebound off a missed Sparks shot, bringing the ball down the court and pulling up for a 3-pointer that swished. If that were the only one-two punch the Lynx could throw at teams, it would be devastating enough. Add in Augustus offense, Lindsay Whalens court savvy, Rebekkah Brunsons defense and rebounding, the benchs ability to give the Lynx dependable depth at every position -- and it can seem Minnesota is an insurmountable force.Yet the Sparks -- thanks in part to an unexpected but good-to-see 20 points from reserve guard Chelsea Gray -- were able to take it to the wire. Still, they and every other potential challenger to the Lynx have to look at Fowles as a particularly vexing problem.Shes a seasoned veteran and an Olympian. She has great strength, touch, footwork and resolve. And shes tough. Fowles took a fall in the opening moments of Tuesdays game that looked wincingly painful and no doubt felt a lot worse. But after a brief time on the sidelines, she was right back in the game.It was a little over a year ago that Fowles joined Minnesota after the organizations lengthy negotiations to obtain her from the Chicago Sky. Her first Lynx game, after sitting out the season to that point, was against the Sparks on July 29, 2015. She had 11 points and five rebounds that night. And while it did take some adjustments for the Lynx to fully integrate Fowles, it all worked out exactly as planned, culminating with the franchises third WNBA title.Since coming to Minnesota, Fowles has been nothing but a joy for the Lynx staff to coach, so genuine is her desire to do things just as they want them done.It seems odd to say the Lynx are back in the drivers seat in regard to the 2016 championship, because they never really seemed to be out of it. Nonetheless, it should be clear to everyone now: Minnesota is the favorite to win it all, and Fowles is a big reason why.
