of 17-6 Youth Mike Hughes Jersey , the Detroit Lions got the privilege of getting the football to start the second half of play at U.S. Bank Stadium, having deferred after winning the opening coin toss. Dan Bailey’s kickoff went through the end zone for another touchback, giving Matthew Stafford and company the ball at their own 25. The Lions turned to Kerryon Johnson on their first two plays, with the Vikings holding them to bring up a 3rd-and-4 from the 31. Stafford went back to pass, and was dropped by Sebastian Thunderbucket Tom Johnson, for yet another Minnesota sack, forcing a three-and-out! Sam Martin came in to punt it away, and Marcus Sherels called for a fair catch at the Minnesota 29.Latavius Murray picked up nine yards on the Vikings’ first play, and Kirk Cousins then executed a sneak into the middle of the Lions’ defense to pick up three more and a first down. A short run by Murray and a short pass from Cousins to Kyle Rudolph brought up a 3rd-and-2. Adam Thielen was then called for a false start to make it a 3rd-and-7. Cousins, undeterred, then found Aldrick Robinson for a nice catch to move the sticks into Detroit territory. Two plays later Womens Danielle Hunter Jersey , the Vikings found themselves looking at 3rd-and-6 from the Detroit 43, and Cousins threw a beautiful long pass over Darius Slay that went right through Robinson’s hands. Matt Wile punted it away, and the Vikings’ special teams did its job with Marcus Sherels and Jayron Kearse combining to down the punt at the 3-yard line. The Lions got some breathing room on a run by Kerryon Johnson to start their drive, and picked up a first down on a second consecutive carry. Stafford was then dragged down by Danielle Hunter for Hunter’s second sack of the afternoon. Stafford then completed a pass to Marvin Jones, who had the ball stripped away by Xavier Rhodes, only to have it bounce out of bounds. Stafford went for Jones again on third down, but the pass fell incomplete. Sam Martin came in to punt again, and Marcus Sherels called for the fair catch at the Minnesota 41.Cousins found Thielen for a quick six yard gain to start the next drive, and Latavius Murray was stopped on second down to bring up 3rd-and-3. Cousins’ pass for Thielen fell incomplete, and Matt Wile came on to punt again. Brandon Powell called for a fair catch at the Detroit 14.Kerryon Johnson got things started for the Lions again with a short gain, and then Stafford found Jones for a first down to the 31-yard line. Johnson then took an end-around for about five yards Womens Dalvin Cook Jersey , but Mackensie Alexander recorded the Vikings’ seventh sack of the afternoon on the next play, taking down Stafford to set up a 3rd-and-13 from the 28. Then, on the next play, Everson Griffen recorded sack #8 of Stafford to end the drive. Sam Martin came in to punt it away, and Marcus Sherels called for the fair catch at the Minnesota 21-yard line.As we go to the fourth quarter, that’s where we’re at, with the Vikings looking at 1st-and-10 from their own 21.Fifteen minutes left at U.S. Bank Stadium, and the Vikings are on track to get their first home win over the Lions since 2015, leading by a score of 17-6. Can they hang on for the victory? It’s time to take our weekly look back at the Minnesota Vikings and their opponent for the upcoming week. On Sunday, the Vikings will have their third road game in four weeks against the New York Jets, who will be hosting their third straight home game. These two non-conference opponents have both been around for quite a while Youth Kyle Rudolph Jersey , but they haven’t faced each other many times over the years. This will be only the 11th matchup between the two teams. Before the current scheduling formula ensured that no teams would go more than three seasons without playing each other in the regular season, the Vikings and Jets once went almost twelve full years between games. As you’ll see, the small sample size has been largely in favor of one team.As always, all numbers are brought to you by the invaluable Pro Football Reference.Games between the Vikings and the Jets: 10 (all in the regular season)All-time record: Jets, 8-2Total Vikings points scored, head-to-head: 172 (17.2 points/game)Total Jets points scored, head-to-head: 250 (25.0 points/game)Longest Vikings winning streak vs Jets: 1, twiceLongest Jets winning streak vs Vikings: 7, 15 October 1979 to 11 October 2010Most recent Vikings road win in series: NeverMost recent Jets home win in series: 11 October 2010 (final score 29-20)Biggest Vikings road win in series: NeverBiggest Jets home win in series: 28 points, 26 December 1982 (final score 42-14)Current streak: Vikings, 1 winThe Vikings are attempting to do something they have never done in the history of their franchise on Sunday: beat the Jets on the road. They have failed in their five previous visits to New York and New Jersey. (The two meetings in the 1970’s were at Shea Stadium Womens Tom Compton Jersey , before the Jets and Giants both shared Giants Stadium and then MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.)The last game the Vikings played in New York didn’t have the result they wanted, but it was still incredibly memorable. Brett Favre threw his 500th career touchdown pass to Randy Moss late in the third quarter for Minnesota’s first points of the night.Favre would throw two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to Percy Harvin to get the Vikings within two points late, but his last touchdown of the game was a pick-six to Dwight Lowery that sealed the game for the Jets. The last game between these two teams took place at TCF Bank Stadium in 2014. That one was pretty memorable in its own right. Percy Harvin scored a touchdown in that one too, except this time he was playing for the opponents. The back-and-forth affair went to overtime knotted at 24-24. After the Vikings forced a punt on New York’s opening drive of the extra stanza, rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater found Jarius Wright on a quick out. And that was the ballgame. You might recognize that #91 in white and green that was in pursuit of Wright before he pulled away down the sideline: none other than current Vikings defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson. He sacked Bridgewater for a safety in the first quarter of that game, giving the Jets their first points of the day. This will be Richardson’s first game against the team that drafted him with the 13th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. There’s your brief look back at the relatively brief history between the Vikings and Jets. We’ll see whether the Vikings can win their third game in a row and their first game ever over the Jets in enemy territory.
