ATLANTA -- The Colorado Rockies began another day without Carlos Gonzalez in their starting lineup with the more daunting knowledge Nolan Arenado will be missing for much longer. The Rockies placed Arenado on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, one day after he broke his left middle finger on a head-first slide into second base. The team recalled infielder Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Arenado was hitting .305 with six homers and 28 RBIs. A decision on surgery or other treatment options wont be made until the third baseman is examined by a specialist. Arenado said Saturday he knew the finger was broken as soon as he made the slide in Fridays 3-2 loss to the Braves. "I kind of feel like Im letting these guys down a little bit," Arenado said. "That hurts a little bit." Manager Walt Weiss said he knew Arenado was upset "so I shot him a text late last night." "At some point, if youre lucky enough to play long enough, youre probably going to have to deal with an injury," Weiss said. "And sometimes a substantial one. Hes got to keep his mind strong and be ready to help us when he gets ready." Charlie Culberson, who replaced Arenado on Friday, was starting at third base Saturday. Meanwhile, Gonzalez missed his third straight start with a swollen left index finger. Weiss said he didnt want to give Gonzalez a full game but said the outfielder was available to pinch-hit. Gonzalez was on deck to pinch-hit when Fridays game ended. Rutledge has played second base and shortstop this season. He was placed on the 15-day DL on May 2 with a viral infection, then was optioned to Colorado Springs on May 13. The addition of Rutledge gives Colorado the flexibility to move D.J. LeMahieu from second base to third. "Weve got some moving parts here so well mix and match at little bit," Weiss said. "Some of those things tend to work themselves out, but weve got some options. "Sure, D.J.s got some history at third base. Hes playing a Gold Glove second base. You dont necessarily want to move a guy thats playing dominant defence like he is, but for our club that may be something we look to do." Right fielder Michael Cuddyer started 150 games at third with Minnesota from 2002-10. "Ill play anywhere anyone ever tells me," Cuddyer said before adding: "But there are some positions that for the betterment of the team ..." Cuddyer didnt complete the thought, but it was clear he didnt expect to be looking for a third base glove anytime soon. Jordan Phillips Jersey . Tortorella told The Vancouver Province hell be cheering for Team Sweden to win gold when they take on the defending Olympic champions on Sunday morning. "I hope Sweden wins, cause I dont think Hammer (Dan Hamhuis) is going to play, judging by whats happened. Minkah Fitzpatrick Jersey . Millsap will miss Wednesday nights game against the Chicago Bulls. The Hawks say Millsap also will be held out on Thursday at Boston. http://www.cheapdolphinsjerseyssale.com/?tag=marqueis-gray-jersey-sale. Beckham finished 2 for 4, adding a double in the first inning. Chicago has won eight of 12 to get back to .500 (27-27). The White Sox are 6-3 against Cleveland this season after losing 17 of 19 to their American League Central rival in 2013. Mike Aviles went 1 for 2 with a walk and drove in Clevelands run. Kenny Stills Jersey .J. -- Omar Cummings helped the Houston Dynamo advance to the MLS Eastern Conference finals. Walt Aikens Jersey . 1 Pete Sampras. Speaking ahead of an exhibition match against Andre Agassi in London on March 3, Sampras said on a conference call Wednesday that he is impressed by Federers longevity. BILBAO, Spain -- They were expected to be in Barcelona. They hope to finish their trip in Madrid. First, they had to take care of Bilbao. The Americans wrapped up the No. 1 seed in their group Wednesday, improving to 4-0 at the Basketball World Cup with a 106-71 victory over the Dominican Republic. Kenneth Faried, whose shooting percentage dropped after he missed three shots, scored 16 points for the U.S. DeMarcus Cousins came off the bench and added 13 points on 5-of-5 shooting. The Americans will finish Group C play in Bilbao on Thursday against Ukraine -- when U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski will coach against longtime friend and former NBA coach Mike Fratello -- before playing their round of 16 game Saturday night in Barcelona against the fourth-place team from Group D, which is still to be determined. A few wins there and they would play for gold in Madrid, but nobody was looking past step one. "Obviously we have to take care of here. Nothings given," forward Rudy Gay said. "Weve worked hard, weve been tested and weve overcome that, and also got some pretty big wins." The Americans surpassed 100 points for the second time in the tournament -- and they were "held" to 98 points in their other two games. Even after having to overcome a halftime deficit in one game, they came in averaging a tournament-best 103.3 points and were winning by 35.7 per game. All 12 players scored, and the ones who werent in the game were up cheering when back-of-the-bench centres Mason Plumlee and Andre Drummond hooked up on an alley-oop in the final minutes. "I believe everybody felt pretty good how they played tonight," Cousins said. "Thats what were going to need to continue this path." The Americans led by only three points after one quarter but had no trouble extending that as the game went on, as the Dominicans willingness to push the pace simply played into the Americans hands. Faried made 8 of 11 shots, a 73-per cent clip that actually lowered his percentage for the tournament to 78.dddddddddddd.4 per cent after the Denver forward came into the game hitting 81 per cent. Victor Liz scored 15 points for the Dominican Republic (2-2), which will face Turkey on Thursday, still in position to advance. The Dominicans played without Houston Rockets forward Francisco Garcia, who entered the days play tied for fourth in the tournament with 21 points per game. He appeared to turn an ankle late in the Dominicans victory over Finland on Tuesday, and though he finished the game, was walking gingerly Wednesday as he went to the bench after his teammates had come out to warm up. "They were short-handed. We knew that," Krzyzewski said. "I thought we did a good job tonight." The Americans ended up winning nearly as easily as their 105-62 exhibition victory on Aug. 20 in New York, though the Dominicans hung with them a little longer than that night. The U.S. lead was just 25-22 as the Dominicans attacked fearlessly but didnt have any answer for the Americans bigs. Faried had three straight baskets, a couple of them powerful dunks, and Anthony Davis knocked down a jumper to turn a seven-point lead into a 44-29 cushion. Gay got the final four points of the half, making a pair of free throws after he was clobbered intentionally on a breakaway by Edward Santana, then banking in a jumper that make it 56-41. A 25-point third quarter was followed by 25 more in the fourth, capped by a series of dunks down the stretch. DeMar DeRozan finished with 11 points, and Davis and James Harden each had 10 as the U.S. shot 56 per cent. Cousins said the Americans were a little sluggish early and still have to start their games better, but nobody was complaining about the finish. "We felt we were going to win and how you play overall, I thought everyone left the court feeling good about how they played," Krzyzewski said.
