It couldn’t have been handled any worse.”McCarthy said he was summoned to a meeting with team President Mark Murphy after the loss and fired in a discussion he said was impersonal and “hard to swallow.” He said he always tried to be gentle in releasing players and he didn’t get the same treatment.“Mark said it was an ugly loss, and it was time to make (a) change,” McCarthy said. “He said something about the offense and the special teams, and he didn’t think it was going to get any better. There was no emotion to it. That was hard.”Packers spokesman Aaron Popkey declined to comment.McCarthy was in his 13th season as coach and won the Super Bowl in the 2010 season. He finished his tenure in Green Bay with a record of 125-77-2.McCarthy said he is taking a year off but working hard to prepare for a possible coaching job next season.“Time provides the opportunity for reflection and clarity and that’s where I’m at now,” said McCarthy

Jones figures to be the featured back and will also be co-hosting USA Today Wisconsin’s Clubhouse Live web show.Jones has earned all the attention coming his way, but don’t forget about that “other” running back either and that would be Jamaal Williams. In an offense where running backs will be called upon more in the passing game, Williams can really showcase some of his other talents. He arguably is a better pass blocker than Jones and he also caught 27 passes last year while being effective on screen plays.Like Jones, Williams bulked up this offseason and now weighs in at 218 pounds up from his previous listed weight of 213 and he has said he’d like to get up to 220. Those fearing a redux of Eddie Lacy shouldn’t fear however as Williams as he knows his agility is key versus Lacy’s just straight power. There’s more on Williams plus the Packers will face an old foe in a new place in today’s cheese curds.Packers RB Jamaal Williams excited to showcase versatility in new offense—Packers WireMake no doubt Jones is going to be “the guy” but seeing how the Los Angeles Rams used both Todd Gurley and C.J.
