Toyota and BYD Announce a Joint Venture for Electric Cars

Japanese company Toyota and Chinese concern BYD have agreed to establish a joint venture in China. The company will develop and design electric cars.
The new research company will be designing and developing the BEV, including the new platform and related technologies. Toyota and BYD will become equal partners with shares in 50% of the new company. They also invest the same amount of money, although the amounts have not yet been announced.
The new company will begin to work next year. Its staff will include part of the companies from two concerns. According to BYD Senior Vice President Lian Yu-bo: “We strive to combine BYD's strengths in the development and creation of electric cars with the quality and safety of Toyota cars. This will allow us to quickly satisfy consumer demand with the best product in the electric car segment. ”
In the future, the company will provide a new platform on the basis of which they will produce electric sedans and crossovers under the Toyota brand in 2025. Although the first result will be a new model built on the basis of the current version of Toyota C-HR.

The Japanese corporation has released updated versions of two models - Mirage and Attrage. Cars are designed for the Thai car market.
Updated cars have acquired a proprietary X-shaped front style, called the Dynamic Shield brand. In addition, the cars were equipped with slightly modified headlights and bumpers with chrome inserts. In addition, the color palette of new products was supplemented by a shade of White Diamond. And exclusively for Mirage is now offered the color Sand Yellow.
As for the interior of the updated models, carbon inserts and more comfortable front armrests appeared in it. Thus, for Mirage it is possible to choose a combined interior design, and for Attrage - faux leather finishes.
Inside the car there is also an infotainment complex with a 7-inch screen that can work with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications.
New items, as before, are driven by a 1.2-liter gasoline power unit with a capacity of 78 hp. The engine is combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox or CVT.
